Ivory Filter Flask: 10/1/13 edition

Good morning! Between September 24 and September 30, there have been 46 academically connected positions posted to the C&EN Jobs website. The numbers:

Postdocs: 1
Tenure-track: 43
Temporary faculty: 2
Lecturers: 0
Staff: 0
US/non-US: 46/0

Kingston, RI: The University of Rhode Island desires an assistant professor of medicinal chemistry.

New York, NY: Columbia University desires an assistant professor of chemistry; no subfield specified.

Akron, OH: The University of Akron is looking for a department chair and professor of chemistry.

Laramie, WY: The University of Wyoming is looking to hire an assistant professor of inorganic chemistry; energy-related research interests desired.

New York, NY: The Fashion Institute of Technology desires an assistant professor of chemistry and physics in its Department of Science and Mathematics. It seems to me that, for the right person, this position would be a wonderful opportunity for science outreach and influence into a world that most people don't get to speak into. (Also, for the wrong folks, this position would make them put their heads through a wall.)

Portland, OR: Reed College is looking for a visiting professor of inorganic chemistry, starting January 2014. Looks to be a 3-semester engagement.

  1. Hi CJ. It appears that C&EN news has not published a specific 'Back to School' issue this year. Did I miss it or is it coming soon?
